Robert “Whip” Wilson

2025

Robert loved the sport of bowling. He could be found almost every day of the
week at a local bowling alley. He passed the love of the game to his three sons (Bob,
Ron, and Tim). Robert earned his nickname of “Whip” by the way he threw his ball.
He has multiple 300 games and 700 series, along with 299 games and 11-in-a-Row
games. He was averaging 220+ in the late 1980’s at Rainbow Lanes in Warren, Ohio
while bowling on a team with his three sons.
Robert was one of the first coaches involved in the Sherwood Youth Bowling
Program. He also competed in the Pittsburgh based Bowling for Dollars TV Show.
Some of the leagues he participated in include the Classic Tenpin League, Imperial,
Triples, and the Community League. His 1st 700+ series was a 726 (which set a new
house record at Sherwood Lanes). A list of his teammates includes local Hall of
Fame members Bill Rock (his father-in-law), along with Charlie Michaels, Ralph
Henry, Jim Zarnick, and Wayne Geisler.
Robert was born in 1943. He was employed at Pullman Standard. Robert
passed away at the age of 47 due to cancer in 1991. He was survived by his wife of
26 years Judy and his three sons Robert (Bob), Ron, and Tim.
