Dan Persic

Dan had been a shining light for many years in the sport of bowling for Butler County. He was the owner of Bruin Lanes from 1992 till his retirement when he sold the lanes. When you would enter his lanes, he always greeted you with a smile and made you feel very welcome. He promoted the sport of bowling throughout the county.
He was very well known for supporting and promoting youth bowling into the county. Dan Introduced High School Bowling in 2006 at Bruin Lanes as a Club Sport at Karns City High School. This soon led to it becoming a recognized sport for competition in 2008. He also supported youth bowlers in all of Butler County.
Dan also served on the Butler County Bowling association as a board member from 1999 through 2001. He was elected and served as board vice president from 2002 through 2004. He also served as a board member on the county YABA to serve the youth.
He was a secretary/treasurer for the Petroleum Valley Men’s League for 20 plus years. Dan bowled one three hundred game and had many seven hundred series. Dan competed in the WBUT Tournament at several bowling centers. He placed and qualified for the final round finishing in eighth place for the tournament.
Dan was born in Pittsburgh, PA., graduated from North Catholic High School in 1969, and obtained a Degree from Penn State University at Mont Alto with a degree in Forestry. Dan passed away on 12/17/2020 leaving behind his wife Vickie and four children.
He is sadly missed by the bowling community, but will always be remembered for his dedication to bowling and his sportsmanship.
